Abstract
This study presents a comprehensive analysis of the prevalence and bacterial etiology of urinary tract infections (UTIs) among patients in Najaf Governorate, Iraq. A total of 157 urine samples were collected from patients exhibiting clinical symptoms indicative of UTIs. Bacterial pathogens were isolated through culture-based methodologies, and species identification was conducted using a series of biochemical assays. The findings indicated that Escherichia coli was the most prevalent pathogen, followed by Staphylococcus aureus, other Staphylococci spp, and Capsella spp. Analysis of demographic factors showed a higher prevalence of UTIs in female patients compared to male patients. These results underscore the need for targeted preventive strategies, increased public health awareness, and improved healthcare infrastructure to effectively manage UTIs.
